What is Circularity & Waste to Materials?

Circularity is achieved through designing and creating circular economic systems where materials never become waste and nature is regenerated by turning waste to materials. It's the opposite of linear economies, where we turn nature into trash. Products and materials are kept in circulation through processes like maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, mining waste, resource recovery, and composting. Circularity leverages removing waste from ecosystems, breaking it down to the molecular level, and then recombining and repurposing them into sustainable use materials.

It tackles global challenges, like climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, by keeping resources in economic use instead of "throwing them away". It creates resilient systems, such as providing better human health or renewable energy materials, that help businesses, people and the environment thrive in the long-term by focusing on three principles:
1. Eliminate waste and pollution
2. Circulate products and materials (at highest value)
3. Regenerate nature

What We Do

Circularity Center brings together innovative organizations to integrate proven and emerging technologies and other market solutions that turn waste to materials. We provide resources to create comprehensive circular systems that incentivize and enable companies and communities to use highly profitable and environmentally sound business practices. Through trusted partners and by mobilizing resources and synergistic regional solutions, we generate positive outcomes, and help ensure thriving markets, healthier communities, and biodiverse ecosystems.

Partnership
Circular Capitalism Framework & Business Innovation Partnerships:

We identify synergies and opportunities for technologies and processes that recover valuable resources from waste, and optimize other market-driven solutions for long-term economic growth. Some examples are: mining landfills to recover critical materials, making supply chains more circular and resilient, closed-loop waste-to-energy, and cleaning up and preventing pollution from polluting oceans, rivers, soil and water. The framework and partnerships use business products and services as opportunities to leverage waste to materials for increased resilience and profitability.

We support circular products and services that deliver progress and promote the circular economy with programs for entrepreneurs and small or medium enterprises (SMEs) – and focus our efforts on underserved communities and groups to encourage social equity and economic resilience.

Circular Socio-Economic & Community Services: We offer education, training and outreach programs at centers to advance circular economies and educate on the benefits of circularity and waste to materials approaches to growth and resilience. Programs and projects focus on regional circularity adaptations to achieve a circular economic framework of profitable, long-lasting progress through innovation, shared tools and scaling-up circular leadership.

Blended Finance: Through in-kind donations, profits and commodities generated from repurposed waste and taking the profits of selling materials, we circulate funds back into communities to support sustainable social and economic progress. We use aligned philanthropic foundations, educational institutions, governments, and other stakeholders to take advantage of community and subject matter expertise to ensure our funds have the most impact.

Services to Advance Best Circularity Practices: We help deliver strategies, tactics, and knowledge on impacts of waste to materials and circularity on Air, Water, and Earth (A.W.E.) – including human health and economic resilience. With partners, we test and validate innovation for waste to materials solutions for circular systems change, and provide accessible collaborative tools, resources and community projects.

Monitoring, Reporting & Verification: We advance collaborative tools and systems to promote transparency in reporting on our achievements in circularity and waste to materials impacts. We use our knowledge and expertise to help businesses, donors, and the public advance circularity using proven tools and practices they can apply to their regions and communities. We also provide information and analyses on major market developments in circularity.

We will create Circularity Centers in regions around the world, led by trusted local partners and which adapt to socio-economic, cultural and ecological contexts.
The first CC will be in Southwest Florida, where increasing populations, devastation from hurricanes, landfill risks, toxic chemicals, low recycling rates, and incineration generate significant waste risks and require profitable circularity solutions. CC will also serve to protect critical economic assets, like real estate and tourism, by cleaning and restoring ecosystems. Southwest Florida also contains one of the most unique ecological wonders in the world -  the Everglades. To ensure that these types of unique and vital ecosystems continue to support vast wildlife and are clean, healthy and vibrant, we will invest in those areas where we can have the most impact.

Carbotura and its Zero-Waste System, utilizes an innovative molecular debonding process of "Waste Regenesis". The modular "Recyclotron" equipment, recycles 100% of any waste into reusable raw materials, like water, graphene and graphite.

Zero-Emissions: eliminates 51 billion tons of air emissions annually.

Zero-Wastewater: treats and reuses 350 million tons of wastewater annually. Its total Impact addresses 3.7 trillion tons of total waste impact across air, water and earth. This approach not only protects our environment but also extends the economic life of materials in waste, providing substantial financial and ecological benefits.
